After a conference title, a Cup final appearance and a first visit to the Elite Ice Hockey League final 4 Playoff weekend, the Guildford Flames now look ahead to a new set of fixtures for the 2019-2020 campaign. Get the full list here.
The new term kicks off with a challenge weekend that includes a home ice affair Sunday, September 1st at 6pm against Coventry Blaze. The first of 54 league matches will take place at Spectrum on Saturday, September 7th against Nottingham Panthers and another 8 Cup outings will feature in the early part of the schedule against Blaze and Cardiff Devils.
“After last season, we are obviously coming into a new term with an eye on a good follow up showing,” explained Head Coach Paul Dixon.
“We have been able to retain a very large number of players, and we have added what we think is some talent to the depth of the club.”
“The schedule is well over 60 games, and possibly near 70 when it is all said and done. It’s a real grind in terms of the toll that takes on players, but if we can stay healthy we feel very good about the roster we have put together so far in terms of being able to compete on most nights.”
With the loss of Milton Keynes Lightning in the off season, the EIHL will consist of 10 teams and a balanced 3 home and 3 away league schedule against every club. In addition, Surrey’s side will challenge for a Cup quarter final spot while sharing a group with Devils and Blaze with 2 home and 2 away against each of them to complete the 8-game qualifying round.
The last weekend of the regular season will be the 28th and 29th of March 2020 with the 2 leg Playoff quarter finals slated for April 4th and 5th.
