Recap
Flames scored 3 unanswered goals in the 1st period to take a lead they would never hand back while delivering table topping Nottingham Panthers just their 2nd regulation defeat of the league campaign with a 6-2 win over the hosts. Mathieu Gosselin opened the scoring just 71 seconds in. Jake Coughler followed up at 7:46 and they were 3 goals to the good thanks to a Josh Wallker strike at the 11 minute mark. At 25:05 Panthers got themselves on the board through former Flames skater Bryan Lemos. An ensuing powerplay for the home team and a chance to pull a bit closer backfired when Nick Seitz bagged a shorthanded strike to re-store the 3 goal difference then Waller’s 2nd of the evening in the 33rd minute set Flames to a 5-1 lead at the break. In the 3rd, Matt Alfaro pulled Panthers closer inside the last 5 minutes, but a Cole Ully empty netter shortly thereafter sealed the final result. Gallery |
