Recap
Jack Jacome tucked away the winner 92 seconds into overtime to break up a 1-1 tie and send the Flames off the ice with a 2-1 win over the visiting Sheffield Steelers. Through the opening 20 minutes, Justin Fazio’s 13 saves against former Flames netminder Eamon McAdam’s 10 sent both teams to break with the score still resting on the pre game 0-0 count. Across the midway mark, a Major penalty to Josh Nixon put Steelers to work on the extended powerplay, but with no conversion the teams closed the 2nd frame still scoreless with Fazio by now perfect on 30 shots and same for McAdam on the 22 at his end. Just under 4 minutes into the 3rd, Flames opened the scoring thanks to Matt Alvaro, but Mitchell Balmas hit back before the period was halfway through. A Cole Ully high sticking penalty not long after that put Steelers back to the powerplay, but that timed out with no change to the score and it remained at 1 down the final stretch and into OT before Jacome’s winner. Fazio made 43 saves on 44 shots while McAdam was 29 for 31. Gallery |
