Recap

Flames took home a half reward for tying it in the 3rd period and getting it to overtime, but Coventry Blaze took home the extra point when Grayson Constable bagged his 2nd of the contest a little over 2 minutes from penalties.

About halfway through the opening frame, Flames turned the tables on a Blaze powerplay when Nick Seitz scored shorthanded to set Spectrum’s men to a lead and the hosts were able to repel a couple more powerplays to retain that margin to start the 2nd.

On approach to the evening’s midway mark, Blaze levelled through William Boysen, and they went ahead for the first time on their 4th powerplay thanks to Constable a little under 6 minutes from period time.  Flames first powerplay came late in the set, but without a conversion, and Flames then closing the period on the penalty kill, the final stanza began with the home team still a goal adrift.

The trailing side was able to see off the powerplay then in the 46th minute, Jake Coughler had the evening all square at a pair each which set up the necessity for extra time and the Blaze decider.

Jake Kupsky made 29 saves on 32 shots against Mat Robson for Blaze who was 34 for 36.
