Recap

Flames broke up a 1-1 tie in the 3rd period with 5 straight goals against no reply, including 3 across 76 seconds to close out a Scottish doubleheader 4 point sweep on the back of a 6-1 win at Fife Flyers.

The first period ticked away with no scoring thanks to 15 stops by Fife’s Christian Purboo while Justin Fazio for Flames had no blemishes on 13.

Early in the 2nd, Flames found themselves on a 5 on 3 powerplay they didn’t convert but shortly after Flyers returned a 4th skater to the ice, the visitors bagged a man advantage goal off the stick of Matt Alvaro. However, with just 5 seconds left in the frame, Johan Porsberger ensured the teams would be all square at a goal each through 40 minutes.

The ice was still wet when Flames re-stored their slim margin thanks to Mathieu Gosselin with what turned out to be the winner.  The late burst began with Jake Coughler who added insurance at 51:53. Ethan Strang less than a minute later preceded a Lewis Hook strike just 18 seconds after that to put the game out of reach.  Tyler Busch closed the scoresheet when he tapped one in on a 56th minute powerplay.

Fazio turned away 29 of 30 shots while Purboo was 36 of 42.
