Netminder Liam Hughes added to roster
Flames have added netminder Liam Hughes. The 6’3”, 200lb Canadian began this season with USports University of Manitoba Bison before breaking away for a short stint at ECHL Fort Wayne Komets. In 8 university games, the 22 year old had a 3.73 goals against average, and 2.97 in 3 Komets' starts. The native of Barrie, Ontario spent 4 Junior seasons in the Western Hockey League starting at Edmonton Oil Kings in 2016-2017. He spent the next pair of terms at Seattle Thunderbirds, playing in 65 games while registering a 90 save percentage before moving on to Lethbridge Hurricanes and then 2019-2020 at Winnipeg Ice where he posted his best season with 21 wins, a 2.53 goals against average, and a 91.4 save percentage. “With the transfer deadline coming up, we know we have to finish the season with 3 goalies on the roster,” said Paul Dixon. “Having spoken with Liam he is definitely enthusiastic about the chance to come in here and show himself, and we are looking forward to meeting him and getting him on the ice. With any luck we might be able to do that this coming weekend if all the final paperwork can be secured.” |
