Recap
Flames recovered from an early 2 goal deficit, then tied it again in the last 5 minutes but a Sheffield Steelers dagger 49 seconds from time sent Flames home empty handed on the back of a 4-3 defeat. Clifford Pu started the scoring for Steelers at 12:09 and Mitchell Heard doubled the difference less than 2 minutes later and the home team went to break with the 2 goal spread. A pair of Flames replies inside the first half of the 2nd less than 60 seconds apart levelled thanks to Josh Nixon and Mathieu Gosselin, but a late Cold Shudra answer sent Steelers to the 3rd back in front 3-2. Just inside the final 4 minutes an Ethan Strang marker levelled it again at 3 each and looked like the visitors might have at least a point but Dominic Cormier made sure that didn’t happen with a last minute strike to secure a Steelers win. Justin Fazio made 24 saves on 28 shots against Matthew Greenfield who was 23 of 26. Gallery |
