Flames pulled themselves out of an early 2 goal hole with 4 unanswered the rest of the way while securing a 4-2 home ice league table win over the visiting Nottingham Panthers.
A little before halfway through the opening set, Panthers powerplay set them in front off the stick of Tim Doherty and they added another through Didrik Henbrant whose 18th minute strike had them up a pair to start the 2nd.
After killing another penalty that carried into the middle set, Flames finally got on the board with a Ryan Tait goal that cut the deficit to a single and a last minute Jack Jacome follow up had the teams knotted at a pair each.
Just over 3 minutes into the final frame Ethan Strang gave Flames their first lead of the contest with what turned out to be the winner, nudging them ahead 3-2, and Jacome’s 2nd wrapped up the evening less than 3 minutes from time.
Eamon McAdam made 22 saves on 24 shots against Ryan Bednard for Panthers who was 27 of 31.
“Obviously we are very happy to have picked up a win,” said Paul Dixon.
“We have had a tough run of results even on many nights when we didn’t necessarily think we were the 2nd best team. We should have had more points in some of those games than we got, and it was a great team effort tonight to pull ourselves out of a hole and go on to grab the win.”
“We are back at it right away here with games on Friday and Saturday so hopefully this can be something to springboard off of as we head into the upcoming schedule.”
