September 29th v Dundee Stars - League

Travis Fullerton made 21 saves and was 1 second away from a shutout and the Flames scored early and often on the way to a 7-1 home win over the visiting Dundee Stars.

Flames got off to an early start that carried through the opening frame when Ian Watters scored 74 seconds in on a powerplay.  Jordan Abt added another in the 14th minute and a Jesse Craige strike 42 seconds from period time sent the home team to the dressing room with a 3-goal lead.

The 2nd period nearly drew to a close as a scoreless stretch, but Kruise Reddick changed that ending when he snapped home the Flames 4th just 7 seconds form the buzzer.

Spectrum’s men added another early in the 3rd through Cam Braes to make it a 5 goal spread.  Ben Davies extended it to 6 in the 47th minute and Craige’s 2nd of the evening about halfway through the frame was answered when Craig Garrigan broke up the clean sheet bid at 19:59.

“I think after last night’s game I said that I had not seen that kind of performance from this group, but I also indicated that they are the type to turn it around the next night, and they certainly did that,” Paul Dixon said shortly after the close.

“We were a determined bunch of guys, and we jumped on them right away to get a good start and that helped us go on to a win.”

“Whether you win 1-0 or by a wide margin, makes no difference except that tonight might be good for our scoring confidence.  We have not had an easy time around the net recently and hopefully this will help us be more consistent.”

“There is a lot of stuff to learn from both games this weekend and we want to be taking that into what we do going forward, but I am very pleased with the response we got tonight, and it is a really good way to get started on a new week of practice.”
