Recap
After a leg 1 aggregate draw and a win away from advancement to the Playoff Finals, Flames gave up an early Steelers goal to start Leg 2 and never recovered during a 5-1 defeat, 6-2 on aggregate, and elimination from further playoff contention. Flames were on the ropes early with Steelers taking a 2 goal lead in the opening set on the strength of goals by Dominic Cormier just 104 seconds in, and a Samuel Tremblay strike in the 14th minute. Just beyond the game’s midway mark, Jordon Southorn extended the difference and Tremblay’s 2nd before the period timed out had Steelers in command 4-0 through 40 minutes. Early in the final Stanza the hosts kept their foot on the gas with Robert Dowd opening a 5 goal gap with a late cosmetic powerplay reply by Cole Ully that closed out the scoring.
