Saturday night Flames opened the campaign hosting a challenge against French side Amiens and the home team broke open a 1-1 draw in the 3rd period with 4 unanswered goals in a little over 3 minutes to secure a 5-1 win.
Daniel Catenacci opened the Flames account at 12:54 to give the hosts a lead at the break.
Anatoli De Mali levelled for the visitors with the only goal of the middle set
Brett Welychka drew back the flood gates at 45:41. Ryan Tait added another at 47:26. Another Welycka strike at 48:13 and a Daniel Tedesco follow up just 33 seconds after that completed the scoring.
Eamon McAdam turned away 18 of 19 shots while Clement Fouquerel made 42 saves on 47 shots.
"It was a nice way to get the season started but more than the score here we were pleased with the way we played." said Paul Dixon.
"We were able to share the puck a bit and get everyone involved and it was a good start to gelling together as a group."
"Hopefully we can come back again tomorrow night and build on the opening night's work."
