Former GB U18 and 20 team member Ben Solder will ice for the Flames this coming season.

The 5’10”, 170lb Defenceman spent the last pair of seasons at NIHL Milton Keynes Lighting where he helped with a Cup and Playoff championship title in 2023-2024 and 2024-2025, respectively.  The native of Chelmsford iced in 103 league outings, scoring 9 goals and 48 points across the stretch.

During the 22-23 campaign, Solder had 29 points in 51 starts with Bristol Pitbulls, and made his official EIHL debut with 18 games at Manchester Storm.  In addition to a stint with Leeds Knights during the 21-22 set, he iced 14 games in EIHL series in 2020-2021.

Prior to a pair of Jr. seasons at Islanders Hockey Club in the USPHL, the 24 year old was selected to the GB U18’s for back to back tournaments in 2017 and 2018 before moving up to the U20 squad for the 2 years that followed. With the U18’s, Solder collected a Gold medal and had the most goals and assists by a Defenceman in 2018.  He added U20 Bronze and Silver in 2019 and 2020. 

“We have looked adding Ben a couple of times over the past several seasons and we are glad that he has made the decision to join us,” said Paul Dixon.

“He has had a couple of very impactful seasons with Milton Keynes and really developed his game and he wants to take on the challenge of becoming a full time EIHL presence.”
