Brown added to D group
Canadian Defenceman Travis Brown will complete the Flames Defensive group to start the 2024-2025 term. The 6’2”, 200lb blueliner made his UK debut last season at Belfast Giants where he had 5 goals and 21 points in 69 league, cup, Champions League and playoff starts. The 30 year old opened his pro account at St John’s IceCaps in the AHL in 2015-2016 icing 3 games before a 55 game run, including 8 goals and 14 assists, at ECHL Brampton Beast in the same term. Over the next 3 seasons the 2012 Chicago Blackhawks 5th round NHL pick remained mostly in the ECHL with Wichita Thunder and Indy Fuel apart from a game each back at AHL level with San Jose Barracuda and San Antonio Rampage. In 204 ECHL starts, Brown had 104 points from 36 goals and 68 assists. In 2019-2020, the native of Winnipeg, Manitoba made his Euro debut with 5 goals and 21 points in 43 games at Danish side Esbjerg Energy. He moved on to Stjernen in Norway the following year before returning to Energy for back to back campaigns, bringing his totals there to 74 points in 130 appearances ahead of his move to Northern Ireland. Brown’s Jr. career spanned 4 complete seasons from 2011 to 2015 between WHL teams Moose Jaw Warriors and Victoria Royals. In 281 games, he had 43 goals and 181 points. “Travis is an excellent skater, especially for a bigger guy,” explained Paul Dixon, “and he can play in all situations including special teams so he is a great find for us this late in the recruiting season.” “He won’t be available to us for the challenge weekend but should make his debut when we get the cup underway. We know he is excited to join us and we are very much looking forward to dropping him into the lineup.” |
