An early 3rd period Glasgow Clan strike gave them a multi goal advantage to make sure a Flames powerplay reply in the back half of the 3rd would make no difference to the ultimate outcome during a 4-2 loss at Glasgow Clan.
Matt Berry had the only goal of the opening set when he put the hosts ahead at 6:29.
Less than 5 minutes after the 1st intermission, Jack Jacome brought the teams back to even terms on a goal each, but Clan closed 40 minutes again with the single goal spread thanks to a late 2nd period powerplay strike from Cole Ully.
Steven Seigo extended the difference just under 6 minutes into the 3rd with what ultimately turned out to be the winner. One more Flames reply from Brett Ferguson on a 52nd minute powerplay brought it within a single, but a last minute Clan goal by Tyson McLellan goal into an empty net closed out the evening’s scoring.
Eamon McAdam made 35 stops on 38 shots against Landon Bow for Clan who went 34 for 36.
“These are long journeys to go away empty handed,” said Paul Dixon.
“We gave up more good scoring chances tonight than we would have liked, and we cannot allow a team, Glasgow or otherwise, to be around the net as much as they were tonight. We need to find ways to cut their traffic down from those high quality scoring spots.”
“It is a good team coming into Spectrum tomorrow. We need to be up for it, and hopefully we can find a way to clean up some of our mistakes and really put in a solid game at home on Saturday.”
