After falling behind late in the 1st, an immediate reply by Daniel Tedesco and another shortly thereafter with Daniel Catanacci’s 1st of a pair put Flames in front with a lead they would expand as time went on during an eventual 6-2 win at Dundee Stars.
Drydn Dow put the hosts in from at 14:50 but Tedesco’s answer 17 seconds later and another by Catenacci in the 17th minute sent Flames to break with a lead.
Early in the 2nd, Catenacci’s 2nd on a powerplay extended the difference to a pair and they disposed of the remaining period time still on the 3-1 score.
A little under 4 minutes into the 3rd, Ryan Tait opened a 3 goal gap with the club’s 4thand still inside the first half of the set, Charlie Dodero made it 5-1. Lewis Hook bagged the 6th at 51:10 before Stars closed the scoring on a powerplay conversion thanks to Kameron Kielly just over 7 minutes from time.
Eamon McAdam posted 36 saves on 38 shots against Richard Sabol who made 24 of 30.
“Road games have definitely been more trouble for us than playing at home, so adding a win at Dundee to the one Wednesday night in Nottingham is a good outcome this week away from home,” said Paul Dixon.
“Hopefully with a few more bodies on the bench we can be a bit more consistent on the road and still have some success at home down the last bit of the schedule. It starts again tomorrow night when Sheffield stops in. We have a long trip back, but that’s the schedule we deal with on occasion, and it is up to us to re-set ourselves for a visit by the reigning Grand Slam champions.”
