Jake Kupsky was 59 seconds from a shutout and made 38 saves to make sure 3 first period Flames goals were enough during a 3-1 road win at Dundee Stars.
Daniel Tedesco’s first of the league campaign at 6:15 on the powerplay set Flames in front. Ethan Strang added another at 7:41 and an 18th minute Matt Alvaro strike had them in front by 3 at the break.
After a scoreless 2nd, it went nearly through the final set with no scoresheet amendments, but a last minute Stars powerplay goal from Jonathan McBean spoiled Kupsky’s bit for a clean sheet without changing the ultimate outcome.
“It was a great showing from Jake and our Defence was very solid all night despite being a bit shorthanded back there,” said Paul Dixon.
“It is not easy trying to get points on the long journey’s to Scotland but a win certainly makes the return to Spectrum a lot more enjoyable.”
“Now the job is to get back to Guildford and be ready for Manchester in less than 24 hours.”
