A late 3rd period Amiens goal tied the game at 3 to force overtime where a visitors too many men penalty put them down a man and just under 2 minutes from time Daniel Catenacci’s 2nd of the contest just as the powerplay expired secured a 4-3 Flames win.
Just 3 minutes in, Ethan Strang scored his first in Flames colours but it was the only goal of the set and the teams started the middle frame still on the 1-0 score.
Antonin Plagnat levelled at 25:49. Catenacci put Flames in front again around the midway mark, but Plagnat's 2nd, this one surviving video review, set up a 3rd tied at a pair each.
Flames took a lead through Brett Welychka early in the final stanza, but as they had done all night equalized again through Anatole De Mali before Catenacci’s extra time decider.
“Overall it was a good weekend as part of our preparation,” said Paul Dixon.
“Tonight was a bit unusual with the extra hot-humid weather making it very difficult for the ice gear to keep up, so circumstances were a challenge for everyone in terms of skating and puck control, but generally a good effort by both teams to close out the series.”
“Thanks to Amiens for joining us this weekend. Now we will try to settle into a routine week of training now in the lead up to our start in the Challenge Cup next weekend against Manchester Storm.”
