September 28th v Coventry Blaze - Challenge Cup

6

Final

A goal in the 1st, 2 in the 2nd and 3 in the 3rd fronted an Eamon McAdam shutout as the Flames ran out 6-0 winners in Challenge Cup play on home ice against Coventry Blaze.

Just over 4 minutes in Travis Brown scored his first with the club when he converted a powerplay that helped the home team to a lead they held through the opening break.

Early in the 2nd, Ryan Tait doubled the difference and Matt Alvaro made it a 3 goal spread in the 28th minute.

With Coventry serving a 4 minute double minor, Flames powerplay struck again on the back half of the infraction with Alvaro’s 2nd at 42:41. An immediate follow up by Daniel Catenacci made it a 5 goal gap before Spectrum’s men put another powerplay to good use with Tait’s 2nd of the contest in the 46th minute to seal up the win.

“We were certainly feeling the need for a win so it is a result that will go a long way to our group confidence, not only for the win but because we were able to generate some offence,” said Paul Dixon.

“We know we have guys who can score, and they will, but it has been a struggle at times so far, so it is good to have a game where we put up numbers and also made good use of the powerplay which has also been a struggle early on.”

At the back, Eamon had a great game and was there for any breakdowns we did have so overall a very positive night and hopefully we can repeat a win tomorrow night when Fife helps us open the League campaign.”
